Our Dining Table

Air-dry clay, cardboard, marker, newspaper, paint, paper cups and plates, plastic, and wire

Inspired by Nguan’s photographs of Singaporean life, our young artists came together to create a special dining table that celebrates the wonderful variety of food in Singapore's hawker culture. The children carefully sculpted tiny versions of beloved dishes, like roti prata and Hainanese chicken rice, using clay. At the heart of their table blooms Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim.

Through this creative process, the children explored how food connects us all. They discovered that sharing a meal—whether it's breaking bread with a prata, enjoying dumplings, or passing around satay—brings people together across different backgrounds and generations. Their work reminds us that every meal is an opportunity to celebrate the harmony of our multicultural home.
