Our children from Nobleland Bishan were excited to get their hands dirty as they helped revamp our garden! With guidance from Ms Felicia from National Parks Board (NParks), they learned how to use gardening tools safely to loosen soil, identify and pull out weeds. The children also cleared away dead leaves and fallen branches. They experienced washing stones and pebbles, mixing fertiliser with soil, and carefully replanted the garden’s greenery.
During the process, the children discovered lots of “creepy crawlies” in the soil. They observed which insects were helpful for the garden and which were not, learning to leave the beneficial ones undisturbed.
Through these hands-on experiences, the children explored how plants grow, what they need to stay healthy, and how to care for a garden. Their curiosity, questions, and teamwork made the gardening project both a fun and meaningful learning adventure.
